Bay Leaves

Bay Leaf is one of my favorite magical herbs!
It is a very easy to grow this plant from a seedling.  You may grow this beauty indoors or outdoors.  Personally I move my potted Bay Laurel outside in the warmer months and then bring it inside during the cold winter months.

Folklore says that growing bay laurel as a houseplant will protect your home from lightening strikes and disease.

Bay has the powers of protection...
can help you to strengthen psychic powers...
it is healing...
has purification properties and increases your courage and strength.

Prophets used to hold laurel boughs when foretelling the future.

Herbs that are used for protection are those that have powers to disperse evil and create a protective barrier when burned, carried on your person, or hung wherever protection is needed.  Because these herbs contain positive energy they are able to repel, or bounce back negative vibrations or energy.

Carry bay leaves as an amulet to ward off negative energies and spirits.  When hung in the home, bay will prevent poltergeists from entering and help remove anything negative already in the home.  Plus, bay leaves smell great.

Great herb for protection.  It will not only remove negative energies but it also draws in positive energies.

Wishes are written on bay leaves
which are then burned to make  them come true. Visualize your wish coming true when doing this.
{If you burn a bay leave,
make sure that your area is well ventilated, the smoke can be mildly hallucinogenic.}

Great benefits come from this herb!

So beneficial in your home. Simply add to wreaths or sachets.

Bay Laurel make beautiful wreaths on their own and are perfect for the Yule Sabbat.

Harvest leaves and dry slowly under the shade away from direct sunlight.

Here are some other Folk Names for Bay: Baie, Bay Laurel, Bay Tree, Daphne, Grecian Laurel, Laurel, Laurier d'Apollon, Laurier Sauce, Lorbeer, Nobel Laurel, Roman Laurel, Sweet Bay.

Bay Laurel's scientific name (Laurus nobilis) comes from the Latin Laurus meaning "verdant" and nobilis meaning noble, or of high rank.

If you are able to find Bay Laurel at your local greenhouse nursery, do give it a try.

Educate

No person can ever educate a closed mind.
The mind - must first of all be an open one.
Then and only then, can the mind continue to grow, explore and then flourish.

My intention is the quest for more knowledge, from the minds and spirits of other magical practitioners.
I will continue to learn from others and use my own intuition.  I take from books only what is right for me.
And I understand that what comes natural to me, will not be the same thing that comes natural to someone else.  I believe that each of us will always know ourselves better than anyone else ever will.
